My Neighbor

My neighbor Amy and I were young saplings planted side
by side. Innocently up to no good, my companion in
sprouting womanhood, we went skipping down the road one
minute springtime girls, the next full women. Her house
was an extension of my house, her parents a subdivision
of my own. She and I exist in a timeless place always in
that way; forever neighbors.
