Artist's Statement
The donkey highlights the story of Egyptian artisans who
worked on the tombs in the Valley of the Kings for the
pharaohs in the ancient village of Deir el-Medina, on
Luxor’s west bank who established the foundation for
Egyptian contemporary art. This work illustrates images
found on ostracon, pottery shards, unearthed during
excavation.
