Biography

 

Nabil Lahoud is an Egyptian artist born in Cairo, Egypt. Having graduated from Faculty of French Literature - Ain Shams University in Cairo, he is a self-educated painter, getting his first artistic knowledge from his family (his father " Edward Lahoud" being a well-known academic painter).

Besides his business career as a Graphic Designer for printings and illustrations, he began his artistic career in his own studio in Cairo, and has participated in many collective exhibitions and as well as holding four individual exhibitions in Hanager Gallery (Cairo Opera House) in 2000 & 2002, Sawy Center/Zamalek in 2004, and at CSA Maadi/Cairo in 2008.

His works reflects the Egyptian traditions and the typical oriental spirit. His mastering of the oil technique characterizes his production to express the Middle East cultural feelings. His method used in painting, varies between the primitive and the instinctive art. His school of painting can be known as naive.

He paints with spatula and brush in strong colors using various effects such as hatching, embossing, etc. His love for symbols of folklore and Egyptian legends appeared in his works. He paints the Egyptian life scenes: Bedouins in desert, Nubian buildings and people, oriental ornament and motifs, Folkloric composition and village's farmers. Some of his paintings were selected to be printed by UNIONS VERLAG publishing house in SWITZERLAND on the book covers of published novels.
