Biography

Roland graduated from Canterbury Christ Church College with a B.A. in Fine Arts. He has since developed his skill that has taken him into sculpture and beyond. Once qualified in welding, he started creating steel structures that were made from waste products from the steel industry, a recycled art form, gaining public and private commissions in the process.

He then moved to Cairo Egypt seven years ago and has since concentrated his efforts into painting. Achieving considerable success, he was invited to take part in the 2nd Luxor International Painting Symposium sponsored by Egypt’s Ministry of Culture. Up to this point he has exhibited regularly in downtown Cairo and has found time to create a 5m tall sculpture for the historic St. John’s Church/ Maadi. Using the recycled theme the sculpture entitled “Resurrection” uses the old pipes from the organ which had fallen into disrepair.

He currently is the Curator for the visual art exhibition at Caravan Festival which brings together artists from East and West. The exhibition in its third year, and is gaining considerable publicity through the Middle East and various parts of the world.
