Sassanic Plate
Ceramic

The peacock in ancient Middle Eastern cultures was a symbol of new life, renewal and protection. And the peacock that came down from the Sassanid Empire was the first motif that deeply moved me ever since I started my career in ceramics. I always regarded it as the most beautiful motif in Islamic patterns. I still clearly remember the remarks of my teachers that “tradition” is the most firm ground for the artist.

This circular and balanced design of swirling peacocks evokes the perfect harmony of life.
